Firstly, I want to thank God. And thank the 목사님 and 전도사님, and all the church members. As you all know, I was born as the son of a pastor. Before Meeting and acknowledging Jesus Chris as my Saviour I was ignorant and I didn’t realise how important it was to come to church with my parents. I didn’t know why the church was important, why the Bible was important, and why Jesus was important. But after growing up and through my experience, meeting Jesus Christ, I’ve realised that Jesus Christ is an essential character in my life because, through His Atonement, teachings, hope, peace, and examples, He helped me change my life by facing my life trials, and then moving forward with His faith whilst we journeyed back to Him and God. We all fail to meet our goals in life and we need the gift of repentance offered through the Atonement. I have faced some serious challenges whilst growing up, and at those times, it was difficult to trust in the Lord. But trusting in Him brought me the hope I needed in order to face my challenges. There were times where I stumbled and fell, Satan wanted me to think I wasn’t good enough to get up and get back on the right path. He also wanted me to forget that the gospel is “the gospel of repentance”. But I know that “the grace of Christ is real, affording both forgiveness and cleansing to the repentant sinner.”
After hearing the story of Jesus at the Children’s Summer Bible Camp and at Calvary Church. I was curious about Jesus and in the evening services, when I prayed, I shed tears whilst I prayed to God, I felt warmth in my heart. After that I decided to be nice to my friends, and be a good son to my parents. I found out later that the Holy Spirit came into me then. I realised that this is what it’s like to believe in Jesus. Jesus is my Saviour. He led me. I believe in heaven and hell. And I believe that the Bible story is true. My life was completely changed, reality was seen through my eyes and I’ve come to many realisations. For this reason, I wanted to be baptised because baptism symbolises a new life in Christ, being baptised is also a way to be filled with the Holy Spirit and to experience God’s power. Being baptised is significant in that it represents the forgiveness and cleansing from sin that comes through faith in Jesus Christ. This means I get to walk in the newness of life and use baptism as a way to wash away my old, sinful self.
